To Hate the Body You See

August 28, 2016

"I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and hate the body you see,
To pinch my fat and want to cut away parts of me.

I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and be disgusted by your shape,
To hide me away and simply escape.

I know what it’s like to look in the mirror and cry over your size,
To cover me up away from other’s eyes.

I know what it’s like to fall to pieces under your own expectations,
That can only be put back together with self-compassion and my patience.

I know what it’s like to let go of perfection,
To feel flawed and frightened of the rejection.

I know what it’s like to try love someone you deemed unlovable,
That only happened when I accepted I was fallible.

I know what it's like to be perfectly ok with being imperfect,
That my defects don’t mean I’m a reject.

I know what it’s like to be perfectly flawed,
To let the walls fall and to let me be adored.

I know what it’s like to be just me,
To be happy being me and finally feel free."
